Все книжки я могу прочесть?

По следам одного ЖЖ обсуждеnия с интересом узнал, что, оказывается, в США есть такая вещь, как "проблематичные книги" (challenged books).

The American Library Association (ALA) defines a challenge to literature as an attempt by a person or group of people to have materials, such as books, removed from a library or school curriculum, or otherwise restricted. Merely objecting to material is not a challenge without the attempt to remove or restrict access to those materials. The ALA defines a challenge thus:
A challenge is an attempt to remove or restrict materials, based upon the objections of a person or group. A banning is the removal of those materials. Challenges do not simply involve a person expressing a point of view; rather, they are an attempt to remove material from the curriculum or library, thereby restricting the access of others.

В Википедии был так же найден список наиболее проблематичных книг за 1990-99. Большинство имен мне, правда, ничего не говорят (в смысле худла я человек очень малочитающий), но то, что удалось опознать - ВнушаИтЬ(с).

ИМХО, было бы весьма интересно понять, насколько масштабным является это явление, а так же - кому и чем помешала каждая конкретная книга. Т.е. про "Сатанинские стихи" или "Лолиту" все более-менее понятно, а остальные?
